Ban Fracking in the Kimberley
The Western Australian Government has banned fracking in the Southwest, Peel and Perth areas, but given the green light in the Kimberley.
While the ‘spin’ has been that 98% of WA has been protected from fracking, the reality is that five million hectares of the state is now open to this polluting industry. Half the state’s fracking leases are in the Kimberley.
The Martuwarra Fitzroy River catchment, Roebuck Plains, La Grange and the Great Sandy Desert are all in the fracking firing line!
Through years of advocating to protect the Kimberley, we’ve found that the most powerful voices are those of the community; that’s you and your friends — it’s all of us. Writing a personalised letter to Members of Parliament, Ministers and the Premier works; thousands of letters can have a profound impact.
This is a terrible decision that the Western Australian Government has made for the Kimberley.
Please stand with us and call for a Frack Free Kimberley, forever!
