In this bumper 25 years edition of EK News our Director pays tribute to all those who have protected the Kimberley and takes readers on a journey from our humble beginnings to our 16,000 supporter base and growing; our Chairperson welcomes our new board members and acknowledges the success of our grant-writing team; and Shaun pens two articles on the implementation plan on fracking and the momentous Kimberley Calling, frack free Kimberley concert. Also inside, Living Green talks of influence, Mad Cow ponders nostalgia; we review Toxic a book by Richard Flanagan and introduce our new staff members and current interns. For Kimberley Nature Project: we release our new publication, ‘Seed collection and propagation guide for plants of the Kimberley’ and talk of the newly established iNaturalist page of the Broome Community Seagrass Monitoring project; the Kimberley Weeds Network has been getting together for online mini-forums; and we trial the emerging technique of environmental DNA (eDNA) with the Bunuba community. Lastly, Anomie covers our recent three events; the Celebrating Bandaralngarri (Fitzroy River) concert, our Kim Churchill concert and the much loved Art Auction.
