Time for WA’s federal Labor MPs to stand up for the Kimberley
Dear Supporter
Right now our Federal Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek is preparing to make a crucial decision affecting the Kimberley. The Minister’s decision is expected any day.
And our 13 WA-based federal members of the Albanese government have a key role to play in that decision.
Texas-based Black Mountain Energy, via its Australian subsidiary Bennett Resources, has referred its ‘Valhalla’ fracking proposal in the Kimberley to Minister Plibersek for a decision on whether a full environmental assessment under the Commonwealth EPBC Act is required.
For months now EK and other environment groups have been lobbying the Minister to declare the 20-well ‘Valhalla’ fracking project a Controlled Action because of its impacts on water resources, threatened species and the National Heritage-listed Martuwarra Fitzroy River.
We are now entering into a federal election campaign and WA is vital to the outcome of the election.
Minister Plibersek needs to hear from her WA colleagues!
If our 13 WA-based members of the Albanese government contact Minister Plibersek and tell her that West Australians DON’T WANT fracking in the Kimberley and DO WANT a full federal assessment of the ‘Valhalla’ project, it will make the right decision much clearer to her.
TAKE ACTION: Please, go to [this page] to send an URGENT message to your federal ALP MP or candidate. Time is of the essence!
