For around 100 years, the nocturnal and ground-dwelling Night Parrot was feared to be extinct. Then – miraculously, a few years ago it was sighted alive.

Now, the Night Parrot Working Group is increasing conservation and knowledge around the world’s most mysterious bird, through 2-way collaboration, knowledge sharing and capability building.

The group was established by Environs Kimberley and includes the Nyangumarta, Karajarri, Nyikina Mangala, Ngurrara, Gija, and Paruku Rangers, and WWF – Australia, Kimberley Land Council and the WA Department of Conservation, Biodiversity and Attractions.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this important project. Stay tuned for more updates about this exciting group and this mysterious bird.
