Jane Pedersen is Co-Lead for Strategy and Systems Change at the Wiyi Yani U Thangani Institute for First Nations Gender Justice at the Australian National University. She works alongside founder and Chair June Oscar AO, and with the thousands of First Nations women and girls whose voices shape the Institute's priorities. Her work spans peacebuilding methodology, strategic communications and policy advocacy, with a current focus on the Institute's peacebuilding camps at the newly formed practice site of Muraga Village on Bunuba Country in the Kimberley. She has worked across community-controlled organisations in the Kimberley supporting community governance and women's leadership and initiatives. Jane is a former Senior Policy Adviser at the Australian Human Rights Commission. She is also a Churchill Fellow who has explored trauma-informed practice, and is currently undertaking a Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, with ongoing training in systems change approaches. Her academic background in geographical sciences and her ongoing commitment to understanding the importance of Indigenous interconnections and care of Country underpin her work.
