Environs Kimberley would like to invite you to the launch of the Interim Neem Management Plan, to be held Thursday 30 November, from 2.30 PM – 3.30 PM at Lotteries House (Hall 2).
The plan has been written by EK staff with contributors from across the Kimberley. It is aimed at improving neem management practices and reducing its impact on important cultural, environmental and agricultural areas. The plan includes maps of where neem is growing in the Kimberley, its ecology, peoples’ experiences with neem control projects, and recommendations to governments and community.
At the launch we will present an overview of the plan and a discussion about the work at Minyirr Park that has been undertaken by Yawuru Rangers, Yawuru Country Managers, EK and other helpers. John Szymanski, a Kimberley weed operator, will also present a new control method for mature neems using herbicide capsules (it is hoped this will greatly reduce the effort involved in controlling neems and improve occupational health and safety).
At 3.30 PM we will invite everyone to head over to Minyirr Park with Mike Wysong, Yawuru Country Managers and John Szymanski for an onsite demonstration. Please bring appropriate footwear and sun protection. We plan to finish up at 4.30 PM at the latest.
