SKIPA is excited to host special guest, Eucalypt Australia 2022 Fellow Samorn Sanixay, who will share the science and art of producing colours through natural dye techniques using eucalypts.

Samorn’s fellowship project, Eucalypt Dye Catalogue, explores how different climatic conditions impact on the colours produced by eucalypts and draws on two rich cultural traditions in relation to natural dye techniques: Indigenous Australian and Sanixay’s Laos cultural heritage. The project will create a Eucalypt colour map of Australia.

Samorn is a weaver and textile designer specialising in natural dyes, local and seasonal, and is in Broome on a short visit.

Come along to learn more about this beautiful natural dyeing technique.

A light supper will be provided.

Tickets: General public and SKIPA members: $15. Purchase your tickets here.

This event is supported by the Society for Kimberley Indigenous Plants and Animals (SKIPA), Eucalypt Australia and Environs Kimberley.
