The National Heritage listed Martuwarra Fitzroy River is one of the last remaining large free-flowing rivers in Australia. It’s a stronghold of the endangered freshwater sawfish and barramundi.
It’s been under threat from would be agri-business irrigators like Gina Rinehart and cotton and beef baron’s the Harris family from NSW for years. Fracking is also a major threat to water in the catchment.
Right now, we have a chance to protect the river, the WA Government has opened submissions for the management plan of water in the Martuwarra Fitzroy River cathcment. This is our chance to have a say about how we want the water protected.
Billionaires like Gina Rinehart have their sights set on the water, and we want to make sure we do everything we can to ensure the Martuwarra Fitzroy River remains unspoiled.
Let’s protect the mighty Martuwarra Fitzroy River!
