Donate to help stop Tassal's caged barramundi farming
This month, aquaculture giant Tassal of Tasmanian salmon farming infamy, has had a mass Barramundi kill in their sea cages in the pristine and extremely remote waters of the Kimberley coast.
This area is in the top 4% of the world’s most intact coastlines, yet Tassal has been quietly scooping dead and rotting fish out of their sea cages and secretly shipping them to Derby, before they are loaded onto trucks and transported two and half hours to the Broome rubbish tip for disposal.
This horrific news comes as Tassal is applying to the WA EPA to extend their industrial Barramundi farming operation to 84 sea cages across the pristine and stunning Buccaneer Archipelago which is National Heritage listed and in a marine park.
We are calling on the WA Environment Minister to reject Tassal’s proposal and launch an independent investigation into why the fish kill occurred.
To continue our critical work, we need your help. Your donations will help us complete the work necessary to stop Tassal’s unsustainable expansion and to hold the WA Environment Minister to account.
